At Melrose & Mutt we strongly believe that beautiful products can not only bring joy to their owner but also help the people who make them. All our lovely products are made in South Africa and Kenya.

We favour trade over aid as a long term strategy for the continent and our products mean that more people have access to a regular income that is well over the minimum wage in their countries.

None of our products are made in sweat-shops or mass produced.  Each item you buy has been handmade with love by the skilled crafts men and women who we are proud to know.

In Africa, things are made to last, there is no throw-away culture, everything has to be durable and well made. We are passionate about Africa, its products, textiles and designs and, most importantly, the wonderful people we work with.

We have supplemented our African products with a small selection of products made by UK and European producers.  Again, all these products are handmade and support small traditional artisans such as ceramic artists and silver workers as well as independent producers.
